Project Overview

All Hallow’s Eve by Jennifer Hughes puts a fresh twist on the classic Halloween rhyme by placing a mischievous mad mouse at the centre of the mischief. As the night unfolds and children head out for treats, the mouse orchestrates surprises and spooky fun across every page, building tension and laughter in equal measure. Jennifer Hughes writes with a rhythmic playfulness that makes the book perfect for read-aloud — children can anticipate the rhymes, join in, and delight in each new trick the mouse has up its sleeve.

The illustration challenge was striking the right Halloween tone: spooky enough to feel genuinely atmospheric, but light and fun enough for very young readers to enjoy without anxiety. Every spread needed its own distinct Halloween mood — misty, moonlit, full of the particular magic the season carries.

Role

Full book illustration covered Halloween atmosphere, night lighting, and seasonal environment design, visual comedic timing within a rhyming narrative, and print-ready file preparation for Mascot Books.

Process

Every project follows this same structured path, so you always know where we are and what comes next. You review and approve at the sketch stage and the line art stage — nothing moves to color until you’re happy. By the time the final spread is rendered, there are no surprises.
