Project Overview

Ava’s Arch: Cooking Capers and Creations by Ava Ventrella is a warmhearted kitchen adventure that layers its cooking fun with genuine emotional depth. When Ava and her companions Luca Bear and Sergeant Captain Burt cook family favourites together, the story gently surfaces the challenges Luca Bear faces with social cues and certain tasks — and shows how Ava’s patient guidance and Burt’s loyal support help him find his confidence. The kitchen becomes more than a place for recipes; it becomes a space for teamwork, empathy, and the particular kind of connection that comes from making something together.

The illustration challenge was making the cooking sequences feel warm, messy, and genuinely alive — batter drips, flour clouds, and the controlled chaos of a family kitchen needed to feel inviting rather than overwhelming, keeping the joy of the activity visible even when things don’t go perfectly to plan.
