Chamber Friends of Noddingland
by Carol Dodson
Picture Book · Ages 2–6 · Bedtime / Sleep / Imagination / Calming
In Noddingland, the Chamber Friends are waiting — and they know exactly how to turn a busy day into peaceful dreams.

Project Overview
Chamber Friends of Noddingland by Carol Dodson is a lyrical bedtime story that creates its own fully imagined world as a destination for sleep. Noddingland is a magical place where the Chamber Friends — playful, soothing companions — welcome children and help them leave the busyness of the day behind. Carol Dodson’s storytelling has the quality of a lullaby: it doesn’t tell children to sleep so much as it carries them there.
The illustration challenge was building Noddingland as a place that felt genuinely inviting and safe — a world with its own visual logic and atmosphere, distinct enough to feel like a real destination but gentle enough to feel like rest. Every image needed to slow the eye and calm the mind, making the act of looking at the page feel like the beginning of drifting off.
